To connect users to professionals, artisans and vendors, I designed a digital solution that lets the young professionals search for and find artisans/vendors of choice and filter them according to their ratings. The flows are simple and intuitive, ensuring that users can accomplish tasks without struggle. I achieved this by conducting research and placing empathy first.

Artisans/vendors need help finding new clients. They generally depend on referrals from existing clients and the off chance that someone new stumbles on them. As such, hardworking and talented artisans may stay undiscovered by the right clients. Young professionals, on the other hand, need artisans/vendors but have a hard time finding the right ones…or even finding any at all. In a world that has become increasingly digital, these professionals experience frustration with being unable to easily access and assess artisans.

1. The primary goal of the project is to create a digital solution that facilitates the connection between young professionals and artisans/vendors, making it easy for users to find and hire the services they need.
2. Design an intuitive user experience that allows users to search for professionals, artisans, and vendors efficiently, minimising the time and effort required to find the right service providers.

3. Ensure that the user flows within the solution are simple and intuitive, minimising user frustration and making it easy for users to accomplish their tasks.

4 Increase the rate of successful connections and interactions between users/clients and artisans/vendors using the digital solution.

5. Ensure that users are satisfied with the platform's ease of use, efficiency, and the quality of services they receive through it. 6. Continuously gather and integrate user feedback to improve the platform, addressing issues, and enhancing the overall user experience.

To solve these two problems, my team and I came up with a digital solution that connects artisans and young professionals. However, we began by speaking with both user groups to uncover relevant insights. Here’s what we found out:

  • Artisans get clients mostly through word-of-mouth referrals and self-advertisement.

  • These artisans/vendors have considered other means of getting clients but most cost a lot of money that they do not have

  • Most artisans we spoke to have not used a digital solution to help find clients before

The home screen also has a search feature strategically placed so as not to be missed. The search feature offers an alternative to users as it may be quicker if they are looking for a specific vendor/artisan. On the home screen there’s a feeds sections where users can see post from both artisans and users, we wanted at a social feeling to the platform to keep users engaged.

Outcomes and Reflections

Project Outcomes: 1. I was able to successfully designed a platform that engages users and offers them a valuable service. High user engagement, that will be measured by metrics like user retention, time spent on the platform, and repeat usage, is a positive outcome. 2. Measurable growth in the number of professionals and artisans using the platform is will be an important outcome. This will show that your solution is gaining traction in the market.

Reflection and Learnings: 1. The iterative approach to design, development, and testing is critical. Learning from user feedback and continuously improving the platform is key to its success. 2. Understand what aspects of your user experience are working well and which need improvement. This can be invaluable for future UX design efforts. 3. Analyze how your platform compares to competitors and what sets you apart. This can help refine your unique selling proposition (USP).
